Emblazon

Everyone check out this new really cool website for tweens!

"Emblazon is a collection of authors–some indie, some traditionally published–who have each produced at least one children’s novel. Our audiences range from fifth grade to young adult, but we have a particular focus on ages 11 to 14. Some call them upper middle grade; others call them low young adult. They’re somewhere in the middle and can lean either way. We call them Tweens.
The first three Wednesdays of every month, we post about some aspect of reading and writing tween literature. We hope our experiences help you to emblazon your own story. The fourth Wednesday is your turn. That’s when we host a monthly feature called Tween the Weekends. We hope you’ll join us on this adventure!"

Go check it out! http://emblazoners.wordpress.com/

They are also at this moment having a really cool giveaway so go check it out now!

Bar Code Tattoo

Bar Code Tatoo by Suzanne Weyn.
"In the near future, Kayla finds herself running for her life when she refuses to get the mandatory bar code tattoo on her seventeenth birthday--a decision that renders her a social outcast and places her family in grave danger."

Okay, I have to say this is one of my favorite books ever! It was super suspenseful and you had no idea what was going to happen next!
I liked how they included some biblical information in it as well.
This is how I imagine the world when we eventually get barcode tattoos. I don't think it will be a good thing. Here are the positives and negatives.

Pos: You don't ever need a credit card, I.D card, or anything else ever again! The bar code stores everything in a simple tattoo on your arm. All you have to do is scan it and all your information is there. Pretty convenient. Plus they can act as tracking devices! If you get lost or kidnapped, they will know where you are in seconds!
Neg: On the other hand, lets say the government decides "Lets kill everyone with blonde hair," then because your tattooed, they will know if you have blonde hair, and where you are at every moment. No chance to hide, or escape.

I would rather take an extra five seconds digging through my purse to find an I.D than risk the government controlling me.

Bar Code Tattoo really shoes you what life would be like if the government were able to dictate Americans. I really suggest you read it.

What do you think? Would you rather have the tattoo or not?
